These Terms of Service govern your use of the ScanPure mobile application, published by CodeFounders. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The Service
ScanPure is a QR code and barcode scanner and generator for iOS and Android. It is provided on an as-is basis. A free tier is supported by advertisements. An optional one-time in-app purchase, ScanPure Pro, removes ads and unlocks additional features described on the in-app upgrade screen.
2. Your Account and Data
ScanPure does not require you to create an account. Scan history, generated QR codes, preferences, and your Pro entitlement are stored locally on your device, with the exception of the purchase receipt, which is validated and synchronized by RevenueCat so restores on a new device work correctly. See the Privacy Policy for the full data handling disclosure.
3. Purchases
3.1 One-Time Purchases
ScanPure Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. Once purchased, it is tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored on any device signed in to that account through the Restore Purchases button on the upgrade screen.
3.2 Billing
All purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. CodeFounders does not receive or store your payment credentials.
3.3 Refunds
Refund requests are handled by the store that processed the purchase:
- App Store: https://reportaproblem.apple.com
- Play Store: Google Play order history
CodeFounders is not able to issue refunds directly.
3.4 Price Changes
Prices may change in the future. Any price change will apply only to new purchases. Purchases already made are not retroactively charged.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with ScanPure, except where such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Use ScanPure to scan codes containing material that is illegal in your jurisdiction, or to facilitate fraud, phishing, or malware distribution.
- Attempt to disrupt ad delivery, purchase validation, or other app mechanisms through tooling, emulation, or account sharing.
- Use ScanPure in a manner that would expose minors to inappropriate content through links they scan.
We may, without liability, discontinue service to users who repeatedly breach this section.
5. Scanned Content Is Your Responsibility
ScanPure reads whatever data a barcode or QR code carries. CodeFounders does not control that content. Opening a URL, dialing a phone number, joining a Wi-Fi network, or adding a contact from a scanned code is an action you choose to take. The app provides an optional Safe Browsing check using Google Safe Browsing and a same-domain warning, but these checks are best-effort and not a guarantee. Always treat unknown QR codes with the same caution as unknown links in an email.
6. Advertisements
The free tier displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. Ad content is controlled by Google and its advertising partners, not by CodeFounders. We do not endorse advertised products or services.
If you are located in a region covered by GDPR or similar consent regimes, ScanPure will present a consent form before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice later by tapping Privacy Settings in the app Settings screen.
7. Intellectual Property
ScanPure, including its source code, trade dress, name, and logo, is owned by CodeFounders. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, solely for personal or internal business use.
8. Third-Party Services
ScanPure integrates with the following third parties. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their portion of the service:
- Apple App Store and Google Play for distribution and in-app billing.
- RevenueCat for purchase validation and restore.
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for advertising.
- Google Safe Browsing for URL threat lookup using hashed prefixes only.
- Sentry, when enabled by opt-in, for crash reporting.
- Google ML Kit, on-device, for barcode parsing.
9. Disclaimers
ScanPure is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that ScanPure will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, nor that any defects will be corrected.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CodeFounders shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with ScanPure. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app will not exceed the amount you paid for ScanPure Pro in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 10.00, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold CodeFounders harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of ScanPure, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Termination
You may stop using ScanPure at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. Sections 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be signaled by an increased Last Updated date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, an in-app notice. Continued use of ScanPure after the change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which CodeFounders is incorporated, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Consumer protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply to the extent they grant you non-waivable rights.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to CodeFounders at [email protected].
