Introduction
ScanPure is a QR code and barcode scanner developed by CodeFounders. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
Camera Access
ScanPure requires access to your device camera solely to scan QR codes and barcodes. Barcode detection runs on-device through Google ML Kit. Camera frames are processed in real time on your device and are never uploaded to CodeFounders servers.
Photo Library Access (optional)
If you scan a QR code from a photo you choose, or save a generated QR code to your photos, the app reads or writes the selected image locally on your device. No images are uploaded.
Contacts Access (optional)
If you scan a contact-card QR code and choose to save it to your address book, ScanPure writes the contact locally on your device. No contact data is uploaded.
Scan History
ScanPure stores your scan history, including scanned content, timestamps, favorites, and any notes you add, locally on your device using Hive. Scan history is never uploaded to CodeFounders servers.
Device Advertising Identifier
The free version of ScanPure shows advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob reads your device advertising identifier, such as IDFA on iOS or Android Advertising ID on Android, to measure ad performance and, where you consent, to serve personalized ads. You can disable personalized ads, reset your advertising ID, or opt out of tracking through your device system settings.
Purchase Information
If you purchase ScanPure Pro, your platform app store processes the transaction and forwards a receipt identifier to RevenueCat, which we use to track Pro entitlement across reinstalls. CodeFounders does not receive your payment details.
Crash Diagnostics (if enabled)
If you opt in to crash diagnostics, anonymized stack traces and device metadata such as OS version, device model, and app version are sent to Sentry to help us diagnose bugs. Scanned content is not included.
Data We Do Not Collect
ScanPure does not collect:
- Your name, email, phone number, or physical address.
- Your precise or approximate geographic location.
- The names, numbers, or emails in your address book, beyond the single contact you explicitly choose to save.
- The contents of any scans you make.
Third-Party Services
ScanPure uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Free-tier users see banner and occasional interstitial ads. AdMob may use your advertising identifier, approximate location derived from IP, and general device information to serve ads. See Google’s Privacy & Terms.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat manages in-app purchases and entitlement state. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
Google Safe Browsing
When you scan a URL, ScanPure may submit a hashed prefix of the URL to Google’s Safe Browsing API to check for known phishing or malware domains. See Google Safe Browsing documentation.
Sentry (opt-in)
Sentry collects anonymized crash diagnostics when enabled. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy.
Data Storage
User-generated data, including scan history, favorites, notes, and settings, is stored locally on your device using Hive. No scan data is stored on servers controlled by CodeFounders.
Data Deletion
You can delete all scan history and app data at any time through ScanPure settings. Uninstalling the app also removes locally stored data.
Children’s Privacy
ScanPure is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data associated with you. For locally stored data, these actions can be taken directly in the app. For anything we hold through Sentry or RevenueCat, contact [email protected] and we will process your request within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date at the top of this document.
